rosy may

Rosy May is an enthusiastic and vibrant movement artist living in beautiful Ipswich. She uses her creativity and energy to share different cultures, histories, music and stories through the medium of movement.

Taking inspiration from extensive training, Rosy developed "May Dance," her own movement style with joy at the core. Using the four elements of nature as a framework she fuses together dance styles from around the globe. May Dance is used within workshops for a range of different communities, and it is also demonstrated well as various solo performance pieces suitable for cabaret and festival line ups.

Rosy is an accomplished movement director within theatre, working with Eastern Angles, Wonderful Beast and the African Choir of Norfolk. A highlight of this career is Treasure Island directed by Kirsty Tallent; a Christmas musical which explored the creativity of having both movement direction and choreography.

The Islands is a Caribbean dance led narrative spanning 100s years of African diasporic dance. This was Rosy's first venture into producing, writing and directing, areas which she is continuing to develop now. This Arts Council funded show is available to watch on YouTube.  Her next show - "Rosy May: Finding Joy," was a Colchester Fringe success in 2023.

Rosy is now working on new solo work and continuing to direct work in East Anglia. Rosy May is available for booking as a solo performer, movement director and dance workshop leader.
