VEDANCE STUDIO - elena & vasile foca
Elena and Vasile Foca are professional dancers, licensed choreographers, and graduates of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău, where they specialised in Choreography.
Dance has been their language for many years. Their journey began with academic training and continued through extensive experience as performers, choreographers, and dance coaches. They have worked as dance teachers and pedagogues in kindergartens and schools, supporting children and young people in their physical, emotional, and creative development through movement.
Alongside teaching, they have had the opportunity to perform at some of the most important cultural and artistic events in Moldova, as well as internationally. Over the years, they have represented Moldovan and Romanian culture at festivals, competitions, and international events, sharing our heritage beyond borders.
Since 2020, they have been based in the United Kingdom, where they continue their artistic work through performances, cultural projects, and volunteer involvement within diaspora communities. This experience inspired them to build a space where dance, education, and community could come together.
In 2024, they founded Vedance Studio in Ipswich — a creative space where dance becomes a powerful tool for physical development, emotional well-being, confidence, and connection. At Vedance Studio, they focus on the individual, ensuring that every dancer feels seen, supported, and empowered, regardless of age or background.
They design and sew costumes, create original artistic moments, and develop creative performances that actively involve both dancers and their families. Parents are encouraged to take part in performances and projects, strengthening community bonds and creating meaningful shared experiences through art.
At the heart of their artistic vision lies a strong commitment to preserving and sharing Moldovan and Romanian traditions, customs, and cultural values. Through traditional and contemporary choreography inspired by folk heritage, they reconnect younger generations — especially those growing up outside their home countries — with their roots. Their performances act as a bridge between past and present, transforming tradition into a living, moving story.
By blending authentic folk elements with modern staging and storytelling, they create performances that resonate with both diaspora communities and international audiences. Their aim is to celebrate identity, cultural continuity, and the beauty of heritage, while making it accessible and meaningful for those discovering it for the first time.
Through Vedance Studio and their stage work, they continue to inspire communities, educate through movement, and keep cultural heritage alive — one step, one story, and one generation at a time.
