JUGnu Bhangra

Formed in 1970, Jugnu Bhangra Group are Europe's most established bhangra performers with over 40 years of premier experience.

Over four generations, the group has astonished audiences across the world with their spectacular and exciting performances. The group aims to keep alive the culture and the rich heritage of the Punjab across the world.

Jugnu have performed all over the UK, Europe, and North America as well as participating in several tours of India. This experience has resulted in global recognition and a rich history that makes Jugnu the ultimate traditional bhangra entertainers.

The name 'Jugnu' means a firefly. This name was chosen to symbolise the group's ability to shine at night.

The group is based in Gravesend, Kent and was formed by Dr Surjit Singh Randhawa. He had learned Bhangra since his school days in Punjab and started the group with only six members. Four decades later, that same group is internationally recognised and has entertained audiences at weddings, parties, processions, social events, community shows, carnivals and festivals.

Jugnu Bhangra has also extended its role as an Asian arts promoter hosting theatre events, photographic exhibitions and a range of other music and dance events – including participatory workshops.
